The St. Louis Airport Terminal Consolidation plan is a long-term infrastructure initiative aimed at merging Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at St. Louis Lambert International Airport into a single, modern terminal facility. The plan is designed to improve passenger flow, operational efficiency, and future capacity while retaining key historical elements of the existing airport.

Known as the Consolidated Terminal Program (CTP), the project will centralize airport amenities and services while providing significant upgrades to accommodate projected passenger and aircraft growth.

Key Features of the Plan

Centralized Security and Amenities
The program includes the consolidation of terminal security, roadway access, and parking. The new terminal will streamline the passenger experience through centralized services and simplified navigation.

Modernization of Facilities
Designed with future growth in mind, the consolidated terminal will include moving walkways, increased concourse space, and infrastructure capable of serving current and next-generation aircraft.

Expanded Retail and Parking
Travelers can expect significantly expanded retail areas and a larger, more efficient parking garage as part of the updated design.

Preservation of Terminal 1 Domes
The historic domes of the existing Terminal 1 will be retained, preserving an iconic architectural feature of the airport.

Repurposing of Terminal 2
While Terminal 2 will no longer serve passenger flights, it will be repurposed for non-airline uses. Specific plans for the space have not yet been finalized.

Timeline and Construction Phases

Construction will be phased, beginning with the western portion of the new terminal. This first section is projected to open by the end of 2028. The eastern portion will follow, with the full terminal expected to be completed by early 2032.

Environmental Review and Funding

The St. Louis Airport Terminal Consolidation project is undergoing an environmental review process. Funding for the program will primarily come from airlines, federal grants, and passenger facility charges.

In summary, St. Louis Lambert International Airport is moving forward with a transformational effort to modernize its infrastructure. By consolidating its two passenger terminals, the airport aims to create a more efficient, streamlined, and future-ready travel experience for the region.
