St. Louis’s rapidly growing Latino community is launching a month of vibrant celebrations for Hispanic Heritage Month St. Louis, which runs from September 15 to October 15. The region, noted as having one of the fastest-growing Latino populations in the U.S., will host a variety of events showcasing its rich cultural heritage.

Kicking Off the Celebrations

To formally recognize the start of the month, community leaders held flag-raising ceremonies at St. Louis City Hall and at Memorial Park in Clayton, highlighting the community’s significant contributions to the region. The St. Louis Cardinals also got an early start with Fiesta Cardenales on September 7, a pre-game celebration featuring cultural festivities.

Upcoming Events and Activities

Here are some key events to look forward to:

  • Greater St. Louis Hispanic Festival: This three-day festival in Soulard Park is a major highlight, featuring live music, folkloric dancing, and an array of traditional foods. The festival kicks off with a special Bad Bunny Night on Friday, September 19.
  • Missouri History Museum Events: The museum will host several cultural events, including a special storytelling night and a “Día de los Muertos” celebration later in the season.
  • Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament: On September 24, the chamber will hold its annual golf tournament at Forest Park. The event raises funds for programs that support local businesses and community growth.

For those looking to experience Latino culture year-round, Cherokee Street remains a vibrant hub, known for its concentration of Latino-owned restaurants, bakeries, and shops.
