The Heidelberg Distributing Ohio acquisition of Ohio Eagle Distributing is expected to close on September 8, reshaping the state’s beverage distribution landscape. Ohio Eagle, a major Anheuser-Busch distributor based in West Chester, will lay off 178 employees as part of the transition. However, Heidelberg anticipates rehiring most—if not all—of those affected.

The acquisition strengthens Heidelberg’s position as one of Ohio’s largest beverage distributors. In addition to Anheuser-Busch products, Ohio Eagle handles brands such as Corona, Yuengling, and several regional craft beers. The company also expanded its footprint in 2022 by acquiring AB Sales of Lima.

Ohio Eagle Distributing announced the news in a Facebook post. The deal marks a significant consolidation in the Ohio beer and beverage distribution market.
