St. Louis events on August 30 bring a full slate of activities across the city, from lanterns glowing on Creve Coeur Lake to jazz festivals, farmers markets, and even a celebration of internet-famous cats. Whether you’re planning a family outing or looking for live music, here’s what’s happening around town.
Water Lantern Festival at Creve Coeur Lake (August 29–30)
As the sun sets over Creve Coeur Lake, watch hundreds of lanterns light up the water in a breathtaking display. Admission begins at $31 and includes a lantern kit, playing cards, and entry into a scavenger hunt. Gates open at 5 p.m.; additional event details will be provided upon ticket purchase.
Harvest Festival at Tower Grove Farmers Market (August 30)
Celebrating 20 years of Saturday mornings at the Tower Grove Farmers Market, this year’s Harvest Festival offers more than just fresh produce. Visitors can enjoy a rock-climbing wall, face painting, carnival games, music, and even a dunk tank. The fun runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cat Video Fest at Hi-Pointe Theatre (August 30–31)
Why watch cat clips at home when you can share the laughs with fellow fans? Hi-Pointe Theatre will screen a curated reel of viral cat videos on both Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (2:45 p.m.). Tickets are $11, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
CWE Jazz & Blues Festival (August 30)
Back by popular demand, the Central West End Jazz & Blues Festival returns for a second year. From 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., enjoy free performances by Soul City Organ Trio, Ryan Marquez Quartet, Scooter Brown, Hip Grease, The Chris Sheperd Band, and the Saint Boogie Brass Band. The event takes place at Euclid and Laclede.
